Sand Sky

SAND SKY 30" x 30” May 17, 2015

An exploration of wide ethereal spaces which breathed in three large bands of color, Sand Sky. “Belted in” with two thinner bands that evoked texture. I loved the impressionistic migrations from soft blue to light tan. Which were a psychological blurring of experiencing both mediums, earth and air, at the same time.

It evoked one of those moments when I walked on an empty beach. Confronted with vast swaths of the open air above me and the granules beneath my feet. Overwhelming yet serene at the same time. Underneath the placidity was, of course, some urgency. And here again I was experimenting with different formats of stripes. Lending themselves to the freer content of this painting.
